Back to TouchLock

What's New

Every feature, improvement, and fix across all versions of TouchLock.

v1.3.0 Latest October 2026

Redesigned settings page, pin-to-toolbar onboarding, and layout view toggle.

Redesigned Settings Page

Completely rebuilt with a sidebar navigation, centered content layout, setup progress bar, and clear visual hierarchy. Each section has its own colored icon and status badge.

Pin-to-Toolbar Prompt

On first install, a guided banner helps you pin TouchLock to your browser toolbar. Uses chrome.action.getUserSettings() to auto-detect when pinned and shows a green confirmation.

Grid & List View Toggle

Floating toggle in the bottom-right lets you switch settings between a compact 2-column grid and a focused single-column list. Preference is persisted across sessions.

Support Strip

A slim, non-intrusive support banner at the bottom of settings makes "Buy me a coffee" and "Rate" actions visible without disrupting the UX.

Centered Content Layout

Settings content is now properly centered in the available space with a max-width container, eliminating the left-aligned feel.

Responsive Sidebar

On smaller screens, the sidebar collapses into a hamburger menu overlay with smooth slide-in animation.

v1.2.1 September 2026

Store-aware builds, remote update checks, rating prompts, and cross-promotion.

Store-Specific Builds

Each store (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) gets its own build with correct store links. Rate and update buttons always point to the right place.

Remote Update Check

TouchLock now checks for new versions on startup and shows a subtle update banner in the popup, settings, and lock screen.

Rate Prompt

A friendly, non-intrusive rating prompt rotates alongside product recommendations. Dismiss with "Remind me" or rate to remove it permanently.

Cross-Promotion Banner

Discover other projects by the developer via a rotating banner in the popup, powered by a remote JSON config.

Uninstall Feedback

A feedback page opens when the extension is uninstalled, with contextual nudges to address common concerns.

Upcoming Features & Pro Badges

A collapsible roadmap in Settings shows what's coming next, with Pro badges marking premium features.

v1.2.0 September 2026

Flexible PIN length, keyboard shortcuts, and quality-of-life improvements.

Flexible PIN Length (4–10 digits)

Choose anywhere from 4 to 10 digits for your PIN. A live strength indicator shows Weak, Fair, Good, or Strong as you type.

Keyboard Shortcut to Lock

Instantly lock the browser with Alt+L (or Ctrl+L on Mac). Fully customizable from Settings — reserved browser shortcuts are blocked with clear warnings.

Firefox Auto-Shortcut Sync

On Firefox, custom shortcuts are automatically applied at the browser level via browser.commands.update() — no manual step needed.

What's New Notifications

After updates, a subtle notification dot in Settings lets you discover new features without any interruption.

v1.1.0 August 2026

First public release with full browser locking, biometrics, and recovery.

Biometric Unlock

Unlock with Touch ID on Mac or Windows Hello on PC. Auto-triggers when the lock screen loads — no clicks needed.

Profile-Level Lock

Blocks access to the entire browser profile — history, downloads, bookmarks, passwords — until you authenticate.

6-Digit PIN with SHA-256

Secure fallback PIN hashed with SHA-256 and random salt. Never stored in plaintext.

Tab Guards

Five layers of protection prevent switching tabs, opening new tabs, or closing the lock tab while locked.

Auto-Lock on Startup & Idle

Locks automatically on browser launch. Optional idle lock after configurable inactivity (1 min – 1 hour).

PIN Recovery via Security Questions

Set 3 security questions during setup. Answer any 2 correctly to reset a forgotten PIN.

v1.0.0 July 2026

Internal release. Foundation for Manifest V3 architecture and core locking mechanism.

Initial Build

Core service worker, lock screen, content overlay, and extension popup. Manifest V3 architecture for Chrome 110+ and Edge 110+.
